Atelier de Rijk

Atelier de Rijk

Utrecht

Tessa de Rijk (b. 1988) is a Dutch artist and founder of Atelier de Rijk, graduated in Architecture from the Hogeschool van de Kunsten in Utrecht. Though she shifted toward fine arts, her architectural background remains visible in her work — in the balance of form, proportion, and structure that define her visual language.

Her practice is rooted in experimentation and guided by curiosity for shape, material, and texture. She approaches her atelier as a laboratory, where exploration and even failure become pathways to discovery. This methodology results in works that span painting, ceramics, sculpture, and interior design — all unified by a distinctive sensibility and refined simplicity.

Organic forms, purity, and harmony characterize her creations. Each piece seeks to reveal only what is essential — a quiet composition distilled to its core. Influenced by Asian calligraphy, she often works with Indian ink and hand-crafted brushes, translating gesture and rhythm into deeply meditative works that bridge art, craft, and space.
