Jamie Gaunt, the creative force behind 'Jamie Gaunt Designs', is a British designer, sculptor and woodcarver working predominantly in oak from his studio in Kent. His practice is rooted in a deep respect for the material and an instinctive approach to carving, allowing the character of the wood to guide the evolution of each piece.

Jamie Gaunt’s sculptures often inhabit a space somewhere between the physical and the poetic. Their surfaces are cut, faceted, or smoothed by hand, carrying traces of the process, while their forms evoke something older, as if uncovered rather than made. Each piece is an evolution of the previous form, slowly taking shape to create strength and grounding through layered texture, with subtle shadow play and linework.  His work achieves a presence which is bound to the past, evoking ideas and shapes from ancient civilisations whilst at the same time reaching forwards.

Rather than imposing an idea onto the wood, Jamie draws it out, creating objects that feel timeless and alive. His work invites quiet contemplation and close attention with its subtle detail and lingering sense of discovery.
